How It Works
After you have found out the cost from our newspaper calculator you may be now "asking" how does all this work? Remember this system runs on you still owning your distribution contract with each publisher. You are still responsible to your customers and subagents. You will still bill and manage the account of your home delivery customers. You will still bill, manage and collect returns from your sub agents. Southern Distribution is contracted by your store to run and manage the early morning component of your distribution from our distribution centre.
At Southern Distribution we believe for the good of the industry, you retain your distribution agreement, acknowledging the importance these customers have to your business by them calling you “their newsagent”. By Southern Distribution managing this labour intensive part of your business, you are able to concentrate on running your retail business better. You will find new enthusiasms you had forgotten you had. You will be able to find that work-home balance again that was so important to you and your family when you first purchased your business.

Wrap and subagent option
Each morning your supply from publishers are sent direct to our distribution centre. Here we roll wrap your delivery supplies and bundle your sub agents and school supplys from run lists and subs dockets you would have faxed or e-mailed to us the day before. We can provide you with a simple spreadsheet to summarise your supplies and give you a clear understanding of your distribution needs each day. At an agreed time these supplies are ready for you to collect by your drivers or what ever arrangement you make to get them to your store and or subagents.
Wrap, subagents and delivery option
With the delivery option included we use our team to deliver to your customers and sub agents using run lists and subs dockets you would have faxed or e-mailed to us the day before. Standards are set so a clear understanding of expectations is established. Any misses or wrong deliveries are replaced by our team if reported by an agreed time. From your total supply, wrapped papers plus subagents papers are subtracted from your total supply with the balance being delivered to your newsagency as your supply.
Already we have a number of newsagencies taking advantage of the benefits we offer. These stores are enjoying the benefits of running their retail store without the hassle and tiredness that early morning delivery causes.
What’s expected from you?
1. Communication – like you keep telling your customers “if you don’t tell us we are not doing it right, how do I know it needs fixing?” We ask that you keep talking to us about the job we are doing ...how we can do it better and/or smarter.
2. Three month trial period – we ask that you commit to a 3 month trial to see the full benefit of this system. At the start it will be challenging, like any new system, however after a week or two, once processes are put into place, you will experience the full benefit of the decision you have made.
3. Once you are happy with the trial you will be offered a 3 year contract. This contract will clearly state yours and our key performance indicators we would expect from each other to avoid any room for mis-understanding.
